“The State University of New York, Empire State College, was first introduced to LINSTAR during the final days of a lengthy evaluation of prospective security system vendors for our statewide physical security project. Prior to the final request for informational bid opening deadline, LINSTAR learned about our College wide project and called to inquire as to whether there was still time to be considered. After having met with countless vendors representing various industry wide products, I was hesitant to reiterate our requirements, and start from scratch again with another vendor. The account representative from LINSTAR was provided with the necessary information and was able to meet our overall requirements and deadlines. Having been in the security, public safety profession for several years and experiencing various other vendors at my previous campuses I would have to say I was impressed, from the word “hello.” Our administration and purchasing committee was presented with a comprehensive and affordable set of solutions for our enterprise project on a scalable approach, meeting our needs locally and throughout New York State.
The implementation and rollout of a “true” access control system began in April, 2008, and has continued to grow and evolve over the years. LINSTAR has implemented an enterprise Identification system, a centralized access control system in most of our 36 locations in New York State, a video surveillance network, and we are currently working on expanding our registration process for on line students and ID solutions. Having limited technical resources and an entire state to manage, it has been critical for me to be able to utilize the statewide services LINSTAR has strategically placed in New York to be responsive and effective when I need them. Most of the major regional centers in operation by the College fall under LINSTARS service umbrella geographically. Requests for repairs and responses to service issues have been completed in an expeditious manner. Service-wise, LINSTAR has bent over backwards to meet our demanding infrastructure. We have faced significant network topology challenges and LINSTAR is always available to me, even at odd hours, remotely from home if I need them.
As an active member of the SUNY Police Chiefs Association, I can also attest to the fact that LINSTAR is recognized and highly regarded within the association for the services they provide.
